Travis Bays

Travis has been surfing since the age of 14, and two years later became a member of La Jolla Shores Longboard Association and started competing locally. In college, he joined the NSSA (National Scholastic Surfing Association), the University of San Diego’s surf team, and became a Surf Coach for the University of San Diego High School. He also founded Evening Glass Surf School in Mission Beach-San Diego and was the head surf instructor. He now has nearly 20 years of surf experience, and over 10 years of surf instruction, and is a certified open-water lifeguard by the Costa Rican Lifeguard Association. Travis has a deep love and respect for the ocean, and his instruction very clearly encompasses that. He also possesses a fantastic ability to get people laughing with his silliness, showing that he most definitely does not take himself too seriously. However, he also inspires confidence; he gives students the tools they need to exceed their own expectations in the water.
