Neta Katz

Neta found Iyengar Yoga at 18, seeking a way to balance the body, mind, and spirit. During her first class, she realized that Yoga would be a lifelong path.In 1992, she moved to NYC and earned her bachelor's degree in architecture from Pratt Institute.Throughout her studies, Neta rigorously pursued her Yoga practice with Kevin Gardiner and Robin Janis.During this time, she also followed her passion for dance at the Martha Graham Center of Contemporary Dance.Today, Neta continues her Yoga studies with Genny Kapular and other senior teachers in the Iyengar method.Neta has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 1998 (Certified Junior 1). Her teaching style is deeply rooted in her architectural background.She teaches Asana (Yoga postures) with a studied understanding of structure and space. Sharing her love and knowledge of anatomy, Neta guides students towards a profound understanding of the body and its potential.Neta is also co-owner of Samamkaya Yoga Back Care & Scoliosis Collective, a studio dedicated exclusively to Yoga for back care and scoliosis.In addition to teaching Asana classes, Neta teaches Yoga philosophy at the School of Visual Arts.A wide range of students come to her class, from beginners seeking an encouraging introduction to longtime practitioners looking to deepen their understanding and ability.In addition to group classes, Neta offers private Yoga sessions to address individual needs.Many students seek regular and/or occasional private sessions to deepen their practice, address specific acute or chronic conditions, and address alignment issues in a one-on-one format.A graduate of the Swedish Institute, Neta is a licensed massage therapist. She specializes in Five Element Style Shiatsu, Acupressure, and Cupping Therapy.She is also trained in Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, and Tuina.
