Ms. Mercè Lagrava

Mercè Lagrava is one of the most respected artisan cheesemakers in the Catalan Pyrenees. Together with her partner, she took over Formatgeria Serrat Gros in 2006, continuing a project deeply rooted in the mountains and its traditions.Originally from the city, Mercè made a life-changing decision to move to the small village of Josa de Cadí, where she fully embraced a rural way of life. What began as a bold transition became a lifelong dedication to cheese-making, learning the craft directly and building it into one of the most recognized artisan dairies in the region.Her work is deeply connected to the land. From caring for the goats to transforming their milk, every step is done by hand, following the natural cycles of the mountains. The cheeses are made only during the season, respecting the rhythm of the animals and the environment.Over the years, her cheeses have received dozens of awards and are now appreciated by chefs and food lovers far beyond the Pyrenees.
