Melanie Sassano

Melanie found yoga while searching for something to help manage corporate stress and improve athleticism for her competitive horseback riding career (and repair injuries). She became hooked when those things did improve, but she also noticed other positive changes emerging in her life. After decades of personal practice, she was drawn to learn more about yoga and completed her RYT 200 Hour in 2014 from Spirit of Yoga in Tempe, Arizona. This program was intensely focused on anatomy and how to safely practice yoga, with a particular emphasis on Bhakti yoga and using yoga as a path to the spirit. When students come to her classes, they are often presented with a theme, quote, or reading to carry with them throughout their practice and day.Extensive travel allowed her to teach and learn at retreats and studios across the country and abroad. She brings her exposure to diverse lineages and styles into her classes, ensuring no two are the same and offering a safe space where each student can find what they need on their mat.Yoga allowed Melanie to find “home” all over the world, bringing her practice with her wherever she went. As a teacher, she hopes to inspire others, especially those in nontraditional yoga bodies, to start their practice today—without waiting until they “lose an extra 10 lbs.” Her ultimate goal is to lead people to themselves, empowering them to show up better in their own lives and relationships. Her commitment extends beyond teaching yoga to helping individuals and teams navigate corporate stress and burnout. With her background in leadership, she combines yoga's healing power with her corporate experience to offer tools for recovery, resilience, and personal growth. Melanie has developed a unique approach to coaching, focusing on both mental and physical well-being to support burnout recovery and workplace wellness. Her classes embrace props, modifications, and deep introspection, creating a supportive space for healing. She’s passionate about guiding students to practice with old injuries and to move in a way that honors their body. Melanie believes in leading authentically—without subscribing to toxic positivity or prescribing any particular lifestyle. Her approach is all about helping others feel comfortable, accepted, and empowered to truly discover themselves.
