Diane Rawlinson

Diane Rawlinson began her yoga and somatic practice journey while completing her degree in Dance Education at Ohio State University over 40 years ago. Throughout her life, she complimented her dance training with Pilates, Alexander Technique, Bartenieff Fundamentals, InterPlay Improvisation, Brain Dance, Anatomy, Kinesiology, Injury Prevention, and a large range of teaching methods and alternative movement approaches. During her teaching career, she has witnessed the transformative power of healing movement practices for individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including her own.  After decades of teaching and leading yoga and dance, Diane returned to the basics. She completed an immersive 300 Yoga Teacher Training with Swastha International in Costa Rica (pre-pandemic) and is a registered Experienced Yoga Teacher. That experience reignited her passion for sharing yoga in new ways. Her primary focus is Somatics/Alignment based yoga, Hatha, Restorative, Flow, and Centering practices. Within her classes, you will experience an individualized approach that meets your current needs and sets you on a new path of discovery. In addition to her Dance Education Degree, Diane holds an MFA from UW-Madison and was on dance faculties at Northwestern University, UW-Stevens Point, and the University of Akron. Diane has been part of the InterPlay community for over 30 years and was one of the first certified leaders worldwide. She is currently coordinating the InterPlay in Education training track. As a writer/editor for Dance Spirit/Dance Teacher magazines from 1997 to 2019, she was able to research and write about a range of movement-related topics nationwide. Diane recently retired after 30 years as the dance/yoga teacher and orchesis director at Wheeling HS, where she directed/co-directed 5 performances a year and created a semester-long yoga class within the district Physical Education program.   She is currently a faculty member at Loyola University mentoring a dance/physical education candidates in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools.
