Casa Del'Cervo

Casa Del'Cervo (House of The Deer) is located in a remote village in the northwestern region of Piemonte, Italy. The village was officially established in 16th Century, but locals claim it to be hundreds of years older. Only five people live in the village year-round, making this a perfect environment to rest your mind and body. ​ The house itself was originally a 'rustico' (store house), used to keep logs and fodder for livestock. In 2010 the house completed a huge renovation, giving the historical building a whole new lease of life and purpose- to become a sanctuary. It is a two bedroom (three bathroom) building that hugs all who enter its wooden-beamed interior. Its high ceilings provide spaciousness, whilst its original stone walls beckon in a sense of grounding. Thanks to the detailed love and attention devoted to design of this house by Alex Maciotta, comfort and safety effortlessly encourage a truly nurturing environment.​ For all of the above reasons, in 2021 Bear took a year-long vow of silence and chose to spend the duration of his challenge residing in this house. It was also during this time that he began hosting silent retreats, communicating only through written form.
