Yewfield

Set in a quiet, elevated position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite, Lake Windermere, and the Fells beyond, Yewfield is situated in over 80 acres of grounds. The house itself, with its impressive Gothic architecture, dates back to 1859.The extensive grounds include native woodland, rough fell pasture, a small tarn, and a stream. The grazed pasture is carefully managed, prioritizing ecological considerations, which qualifies it to be part of the Environmentally Sensitive Areas Scheme.Newly developed ornamental areas closer to the house include organic vegetable gardens, orchards, an herb patio, and a mixed border. We are also experimenting with naturalistic styles and plantings, such as a coppice garden, wildflower meadows, a fern corner, and a wildlife pond.A nature trail through the land and gardens guides visitors through the grounds.
