Psychonauta Foundation

Psychonauta is a wordplay, inspired by the proximity of our home base to a town called Nauta, which is older than Iquitos and was the first port in the region marked on naval maps. The word "nauta" itself is rooted in Latin and means "navigator." So, "psychonauta" refers to a voyager into the infinite depths of their own soul, a journey that mystics throughout history have recognized as a reflection of the universe. These mystics have known many techniques and tools for undertaking this journey. In our case, we draw from indigenous traditions that use master plants—teachers and healers from a broader circle of life than our limited human world. Based in the Amazon, our work focuses on the use of local plants, including the most famous of them all, ayahuasca. However, we also carry out projects in the Andes and beyond South America, always guided by the principles of intention and the right tools to achieve it.
