Mark Anstice

Mark, 57, is an ex-Army Officer, Expedition-Leader, Middle-East Security Operative, TV-Explorer, and professional sailor, and quite a few other, less exciting, things besides.In 2005, shuddering at the prospect of a UK mortgage, he bought a small piece in Morocco, and so began what would become a 17-year odyssey to build The Serai.Joined by Ayelen in 2008, they turned the build - usually an expensive and frustrating process - into a lifestyle choice. He believes passionately in the innate ability of children to skilfully assess and manage risk if given the right guidance.Mark enjoys climbing, skiing, sailing, and kitesurfing but is usually in his workshop, making stuff.
